Dubbo Sheep Report: 22 May 2017

Lamb numbers remained steady with the quality showing some improvement.

There was a good selection of well finished trade and heavy weights throughout.

Dorpers and Merino lambs were reasonably well supplied. There were limited opportunities for restockers to procure good quality crossbred lambs. Demand from a full field of buyers was stronger for all classes with market trends dearer through all categories.

3 score trade weight lambs saw a dearer trend of $6 to $8/head.

The plainer condition 2 score lambs also sold to a dearer trend however increases were not as great.

The quality and finish of the heavy and extra heavy weight lambs contributed to an increase in prices received, while the market trend was $8/head dearer and more in places.

Demand was stronger for all classes of sheep with the market trend responding positively. All classes sold to a dearer trend and recovered most of the previous sale’s losses.
